Another Time 01:28
Another time, another time indeed We’ll find a line where both of us could meet And all your friends will one day be deceased And leave you in the middle of the street Another time, another time indeed We’ll find a time when we could be happy That spider web inside your skull’s a treat I’ll clean it up another time indeed And you know that our continents will split

Something sticky’s coming down under the chin and up again Something’s breaking all the time He’s apologetic but he doesn’t mean it when he says That he’ll do better next time Something underneath the Earth is always rubbing against itself Something in the crust is thick She is tired of the fantasies in which she cuts him down She is fed up, she is sick She looks at him like he can make it better, but she knows that look is wrong She knew that all along He looks like a winner, but he tastes like disappointment She blames herself when he turns to her for help When he throws her on the ground, when she’s scared to make a sound It all happens when he drinks and she’s around Something ugly is a smear upon his face shaped like a smile Something needs to clean it up He’s been drunk since he was seventeen and stupid for a while Something needs to beat him up He looks at himself like he is a god but when he hears his voice he stops He realizes he’s not She looks at him and notices his underwhelming qualities again She don’t want to pretend that he’s healthy to her life, so she makes a point to try For a while, he’ll be floating, getting by

I want to hurt you, I want you to come Running into my arms, to mold us to one Absorb all your memories, make them all mine See a face in my reflection in time I want to hurt you, and to hold you here Whisper ‘I love you’ into your left ear Tell your you’re useless, and worthless and plain So normal that you deserves to feel pain I want to hurt you and to see you cry Want you to feel like you’re worse than a fly Small and diseased and disgusting, then I Will tell you that I am here I want to hold him, and then clean up his tears You’ll say you’re sorry for all of these years And after I hurt you, once I make you break I will become all he is, him you’ll take

Fault Lines 03:36
So much I think about when there is nothing to do So I reason with you So much I have to deny before I can admit That I think you are wrong What happens when the crust under our bodies vibrates? I think we stay in place What have you said about drifting away, I say I think you are wrong My confidence and arrogance have morphed into the same Quality that crosses fictional lines in my brain and just because these lines are moving, There’s a good chance I am wrong So much I have to apologize for, before The oceans separate us So much goes into honesty lately, I say I’m definitely wrong

It’s summer time again, and I can’t remember last time the sun got sent Ice is melted down, and I can’t remember last time you came around I’m so sick of you, and I can’t remember last time you weren’t sick of me too But now the glacier’s gone, and I can’t remember last time you were smiling The mammoths froze to death, and I can’t remember last time I couldn’t see my breath Saber tooth’s gone cold, and I can’t remember if they was in control You are sick of me, and I know I’ve been such a jerk lately Better now, I’m sure, but I can’t remember how many times I’ve said that before I know that I get so unfolded Even thought we are cold An ocean blocks the air, but I can’t remember if that was always there I might’ve had some luck, but I can’t remember, it’s hard to care too much Winter has now past, but I can’t remember how long the summer lasts I don’t remember anything from before the glaciers came

Pangaea, Pangaea, Pangaea Drift away All vertebrates shall rise from their graves while Permian leaves decompose In the desert of Pangaea From the sky came the light The sun came down, the grass turned brown Night on Earth went up in a smoke, and We couldn’t breathe anymore

There are dogs in the street And they’re giving off their odors Yes, there are dogs in the street Cause they’ve all turned on their owners There’s trash in the street Which them dogs are all consuming By the power of some clever demon That’s turning our canine brethren sick while unassuming that There are dogs in the street For those of you still skeptical, Just watch them out your pretty window While they search for their severed testicles They’ve been corrupted by bad dogs that introduced them to the substances That any dog who’s partaken must turned to the justice System that will cut them off like a snap of a finger for a price we must be willing to consider Because county pounds are not tough enough. We have to turn to the private sector. My wife had a good dog But she had to put it down because it wouldn’t respect her There are dogs in the street Making noise and having sex While the good citizens like us Are all suffering the effects Of these dogs that won’t leave the street Despite the efforts of us good ones Sure, they all scamper and run away when they get a sight of our guns But they always come back, like we trained our dogs to do Because the point of your dog’s domestication is that they’re reliant on you But now the dogs are in the street And the puppies aren’t safe Because we pampered dogs have no defenses Have no chance against them bad dogs for dog’s sake When they come barking at our door Looking for something to eat or to ravage What alternative might we have But let in the savage Let it off from off the street And then it’s in our homes! Good canines, we must find a way To preserve our superior chromosomes There are dogs in the street And the way to get them out Is to hire wolves To clear those fucking muts all out And then them wolves stay Because they’ll understand That the only way our society Will have a chance to stand Is if the bad dogs see what happens when they turn into meat This is something we have to do to get those dogs off the street

Toxicity 03:32
I went to bed last night, trying to make myself feel alright But I drank too much so the room was such a merry-go-round I tried to talk last night, but words came out just so absurd They were slurs, I was sure that we were making sense But I guess it was all too much I woke up facing south with the taste still in my mouth Of the shit that we spent so much money to get But we got it anyway I had a dream where I was floating along the riverside But the water was brown and the fish had all drowned Due to toxic intake And everyday I feel the same And any way I play the game, I break the rules like they’re promises I’ve made You are the one thing that’s remained constant throughout my life It’s a smart alliance we’ve down to a science, it’s a power we both have I love you like you’re liquid pouring down the kitchen sink While the fumes fill the air, the paint starts to tear I get happy breathing in I love you but I need to step away for my own good It’s a step into darkness, a night that is starless And empty all around I love you and I’m sorry for anything that I have said That might have caused a minor loss in your faith in me Everyday I think the same Anyway I seem to blame

War! 03:14
In the mornin', they was burnin’ up a fire to be fed They went huntin’ they was starvin’, all the mammoths they went dead They was different, they’s resistant, they’s resourceful, they was smart They was people, from the monkeys all their tools set them apart In the mornin, they still hungry so they plant seeds in the ground They stopped moving, they stopped using all their spears and so they found There were others, they was jealous of the crops that they had grown They was smothered in they sleep, war’s invention became known In the afternoon, they was paranoid of people round them all They build weapons, they built fences, they constructed their stone walls Gods of hunger, gods of warfare, gods of fertility made It okay to cut your neighbor down if they came in your space Sword and fire, their empire was expanded across the land Years in pieces, they killed Jesus, then a new reign stood in sand Gods of hunger, gods of warfare, gods of everything replaced By an omnipotent God we fear to death that’s heaven-based In the evenin’, they still starving so the work got centered in By the factories, all them factories blow the gas they’re emittin’ In the morning, they was burning all that wood for keeping warm Now it’s excess, only progress, just a product taking form
10.
A Supernova 03:41
Stars go supernova when their gravity gets too strong, they cannot pull their weight But in our case we were binary as we could be. We were getting unsafe So when we exploded, the gusts of wind blew us away into the galaxy I resolved to understand I’d never see you again, that made me happy But I saw you the other day I got high an hour ago, but now I have come down and I’m watching TV A documentary about the stars up in the sky, and why they’re interesting Since I saw you, every actor’s been vomiting out onto the fuzzy screen I guess that’s why I don’t get high, not often enough to see that usually You made me wish they were dead I don’t want to see you again
11.
Another time, another time you’ll see The continents will bring you back to me Because they won’t move anymore, we’ll find Pangaea will come back another time Because distance is what I am, distance is what I can be for you If the timing is what you are, and the distance is just too far from you …then, I’ll come back another time.

about

"And you know that our continents will split."

This is the phrase that Jason McCue reminds his audience of in the opening chapter of his forthcoming album, PANGAEA. It’s a theme that has proven difficult for him to ignore, as over the past year the Earth beneath the 21 year-old indie-folk artist’s feet has constantly been vibrating, thrusting himself upon an unsuspecting Seattle Music Community.

PANGAEA marks a milestone in McCue's musical life because he grew up while making it. The album’s themes revolve around the ideas of nostalgia, certainty, and the distortion of memory traveling at a rate dependent on the proportions of distance and time. All the while, these themes are deposited as references to geology, Earth history, and scientific theory. The album is intended to pose the question— What happens when the continents have drifted as far away from each other as possible? Does that mean they'll crash again?
